2011 Japan Shohin Bonsai Association Auction

It is hard to believe another year has rolled around and it is time for the 2011 Japan Shohin Bonsai Association Auction.  This year instead of 1-2 web pages they have elected to publish a PDF file of the auction items. When we first downloaded it, the file was over 20MB so we used Acrobat to reduce the file size to a more manageable 3MB with little, if any, loss of quality.

Ah to be at the auction.  I believe we would attempt to purchase those two Harada Houn dobans in the lower right corner of the back page.

We hope you enjoy seeing the auction materials.  It is held on the 23rd of November so there is plenty of time to get a bid in!

It is that time of year again, the Japan Shohin Bonsai Association is about to hold their 2010 auction.  This is a premiere auction of pots and shohin bonsai.

If you want to see the auction page go here: http://www.shohin-bonsai.ne.jp/2010auction/2010auction.html (These pages have been removed very early this year.  Go here for at least a PDF of the auction page.)

If you want this page translated into English go here: English Translation.

Here are a few highlights from the auction. So Enjoy!

Kozan, Tofukuji, Yusen

Well it is that time of year again. The Japan Shohin Bonsai Association is holding their annual auction.  If you haven’t seen what they offer then take a peak at this link.  Click here to see the auction pages.  Take note at the top right of the page “ページ2” as this will take you to the second page of their auction catalog.

They have a number of Tofukuji pots for sale: 12, 20, 24, 26, 41 and 58.  Yusen pots are numbers:  2, 3, 10, 22, 51 and 53.  Number 8 is by Suyama.  Number 15 is by Taishan Koito.  Number 30 and 55 is by Miyazaki Hazime.  Heian Kozan’s pots are 39 and 40.

Last year each thumbnail contained a link to a larger view of the pot or tree so hopefully thay will do that this year as well but currently they are only displaying the small thumbnail.

If you are interested in bidding on any of these pots (sorry no trees from Japan can be imported into the US), you can email yorozuen@yorozuen.jp.  Last year the owner of Yorozuen was the auction chairman.

Bidding requires you to provide them with your maximum bid and then secure that with a credit card or bank transfer.  It is complex but frankly these are world class pots.  Expect to pay $3,000 and up for a Tofukuji pot and potentially $5,000 and up for a Yusen pot.  I have no idea if they have reserves!

Enjoy…
